Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 June 2026

GiveItAScan ("the app", "we", "us") helps Australian shoppers check supermarket prices against shelf tickets. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we handle it. We are committed to collecting as little as possible.

Information we handle

Photos you take. When you scan a shelf ticket or receipt, the photo is sent to our backend service to read the text and prices in it. The photo is processed and then discarded immediately. We do not store your photos on our servers, and they are not linked to your identity or used to track you.

Scan history. The items, prices, and results from your scans are stored locally on your device only. We do not receive or store this history.

Subscriptions. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple provides us with anonymous subscription status so the app can unlock its features.

What we do not do

Service providers

To read prices from your photos, we use an AI image-processing service (Anthropic). Photos are transmitted securely, used only to extract the text for that single request, and not retained for training or any other purpose.

Permissions

The app asks for camera access to scan tickets and receipts, and optional photo library access if you choose a receipt photo or save evidence. You can change these anytime in iOS Settings.

Children

GiveItAScan is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

Because your scan history lives on your device, deleting the app removes it. You can also delete individual scans within the app at any time.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
